I have a thing for German dance metal. I've been a fan of Rammstein for quiet sometime. However, I have recently discovered a band which is not new to the German dance metal scene, but they are new to me: Eisbrecher (or for us English speakers, ice breaker). I know, I know, I'm very late to this discovering this band, but, as they say, "it's better late than never." Below is Eisbrecher's video for their song "Verrückt" (Crazy). So enjoy!
Cheers!

New Email
My new email address, if you need you to yell and scream at me, telling me what a horrible piece of human excrement I am, is skepticdaveblog@gmail.com
Do not email me if you are a Nigerian prince looking to share your riches with me. I fell for one once, and it just didn't work out. However, if you are an interesting, beautiful, and wildly intelligent woman looking for a slightly eccentric...Oh, never mind. No need to tempt another Manti Te'o incident.
Cheers!

Who Doesn't Want To Have Sex With Underage Men?
Happy post Super Bowl Monday to all. I didn't bother to post anything yesterday because I was drowning, perhaps like some of you, in a sea of high fat, high sodium, and high preservative food. I have survived the Super Bowl, junk food induced orgy; now it is time to do something a bit, but not overly, productive.
According to the impeccable journalist and pundits at the Fox News channel, feminists thought is wreaking havoc on our poor, helpless female population. I know...this is not news. However, the new inflammatory claim excreted by folks from Fox is that feminism enables, nay, drives women to want to have sex with underage men. I know what you're thinking: how did crackerjack reporters at Fox find us out? After all the nefarious plan of the feminists to corrupt the male youth is plainly right there in the works of Monique Wittig, Alice Walker, and Patricia Hill Collins. Oh wait, no it's not.
Let's go to the tape:
Something very interesting is happening in this short discourse...and you'll just have to wait until part two of this post for me to explain (it's not easy typing on an iPad; so I desperately need to get to a keyboard). Watch the video, and as with our male pinups, see what you deconstruct. Have at it my faithful minions.
Cheers!

Coffee and Male Pinups
Good morning to all of you out in the vast, wondrous and sometimes downright scary interwebs. I realize that my post from yesterday, the male pinups, was supposed to contain pictures. Well...it was working just fine on my ipad, but for some reason or another HAL just didn't want to make it work for me. Fortunately enough I didn't hear an ominous voice declaring, "I can't do that, Dave." So now that I'm at the desktop, I can remedy the picture situation.
Also, I need coffee. My brain needs a kickstart. The awful part of this need for coffee is that someone, I won't say who...HAL...broke my glass French press. So I and the kiddies are going to brave the freezing temperatures to purchase a new French press and, while we're at it, some new coffee. Fair trade, of course, because I'll feel like a subhuman if I increase the level of exploitation of workers via my coffee purchase (never mind that I went to Wal-Mart, yesterday).
So while I'm out getting my java jive on, do what you can, my faithful minions, to deconstruct these photos. What makes these photos strange or funny? Is there power at play? Are the men in these photos betraying their social gender roles? Are these power poses, or would you say that the male subjects in them are being submissive?
Also, check out Rion Sabean, the artist behind these ingenious photographs, here.

New Content: It's A Gender Thing
Yes...it's that time again. The drive to ejaculate random thoughts onto the interwebs has been reignited within my, well, for lack of a better word, soul. The forthcoming content will still focus on skepticism, science, and randomness; I'd like to write a bit more about the academic field of which I'm becoming trained in: sociology. So look forward to more gender, class, sexuality, and race analysis, among other things.
To kick start the new content, check out these men in classic pinup model poses. In the next post I'll write a bit analyzing the images in context to gender relations.
Cheers!

Thanks goes to Dr. Weinzimmer, since it was in her sociology of gender class that she showed us the following photos from http://www.petapixel.com/2011/10/04/men-photographed-in-stereotypically-female-poses/
